COACHING CAREER
In 1st season as the Red Sox assistant pitching coach...Also marks his 1st season in the Boston organization. Joins the Red Sox after 24 seasons in the Mets organization, including serving as New York's rehabilitation pitching coordinator in 2011...Was also the Mets rehabilitation coordinator in 2004-05 and 2007-08. Had 3 stints as the Mets bullpen coach, most recently for the 2009-10 seasons...Also held the position from 1997-6/8/99 and 2000-02, working on Bobby Valentine's staff during the latter spans. Served as pitching coach for New York's Triple-A Norfolk affiliate for the 2003 and 2006 campaigns. Began 2005 as the Mets rehabilitation coordinator and assumed the added responsibilities of pitching coach for High- A St. Lucie...Had previously served as pitching coach for St. Lucie from 1996-97 and was a coach with the club in 1992. From 6/7/99-2000, was the pitching coordinator for the Mets minor league system. Began coaching career with New York's Rookie-level Sarasota club in 1988...Also served as a coach with Rookie-level Kingsport in 1989, Short-A Pittsfield in 1990, and Double-A Binghamton from 1992-1994.

Selected by the Yankees in the second round of the secondary phase of the 1975 June Amateur Draft...Lefthander pitched in the Majors for parts of 8 seasons with the Astros (1979-80), Pirates (1982-83), White Sox (1984), Mets (1985-86) and Twins (1987), compiling a 7-8 record with 3 saves and a 4.64 ERA (103 ER/200.0 IP) in 122 games (10 starts). Was a member of the Mets World Championship team in 1986, going 2-3 with a 3.79 ERA (15 ER/35.2 IP) in a career-high 31 games (1 start) during the regular season. Last pitched professionally for the Mets Triple-A Norfolk club in 1988.

PERSONAL
Married to Mary Anne...Has 2 sons, Danny (5/6/82) and Michael (1/19/84), and a daughter, Alexandra (9/8/86). Studied physical education at the College of the Redwoods in Eureka, CA...Named All-Golden Valley Conference in baseball...Inducted into the school's Athletic Hall of Fame in 1999. Graduated from Union High School in Fortuna, CA where he was all-conference in baseball and also starred in basketball and football.
