Mike Lowell's three-run homer in the third finished off White Sox starter Jose Contreras, whose error earlier in the frame opened the floodgates for the Red Sox. Ramon Ramirez got the win in relief of Clay Buchholz, who yielded seven runs in 4 2/3 frames. With the win, Boston picked up a half-game on Texas in the AL Wild Card.
