The Twins found themselves in an early hole at Fenway Park after rookie starter Kevin Slowey gave up a pair of RBI hits in the bottom of the first inning. Justin Morneau hit his 31st homer of the year and Brian Buscher knocked in another run in the seventh, but the two runs were too little, too late for the Twins against Daisuke Matsuzaka.

Daisuke Matsuzaka delivered a gem, then he and the Red Sox had to wait for the outcome of the Yankees tilt, which ended with an Orioles win. The Sox will now face the Angels in the ALDS.
