With ailing Manny Ramirez and Kevin Youkilis back in the lineup, the Red Sox pounded out 17 hits in a rout of the A's. Mike Lowell led the way with five RBIs, while Dustin Pedroia scored four times. With the win, Boston trimmed its magic number to clinch to two.
