It was a slow Saturday night for Boston's offense, which rapped just one hit off San Diego right-hander Chris Young over seven innings. Tim Wakefield, who was denied his third straight win, had a shaky outing, giving up six runs in 5 1/3 innings.
It was all Chris Young on Saturday, as the 6-foot-10 Padres right-hander was in cruise control through seven strong innings to pick up his seventh win of the season. The righty was also helped out by three Padres homers, two solo shots courtesy of Khalil Greene.
