The Tim Hudson that Braves fans are accustomed to seeing this year had a rough outing on Sunday. The righty gave up six runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings to fall to 5-2 on the season. Atlanta scored its two runs on an RBI single by Matt Diaz and a bases-loaded walk by Jarrod Saltalamacchia.
After a two-hour-plus rain delay, Boston came out of the gate to score four first-inning runs -- three coming on Jason Varitek's three-run triple -- to give Kason Gabbard a win in his first start of the season. The southpaw was strong, going five-plus innings, allowing just two runs and one free pass.
