Pitchers rarely steal bases. Relief pitchers steal even less often. So if you're a 300-pound reliever, you can pretty much bet the third-base coach isn't going to give you the green light.
But that's precisely what happened Monday, when Indianpolis Indians right-hander Jose Diaz stole third against the Louisville Bats. Diaz, for all his talent, is a big guy.
And while it can sometimes be crass for players to gloat, we're sure even the Louisville players got a good chuckle out of Diaz's post-steal celebration.
