Call at home confirmed after replay at Fenway

Umpires review collision rule on play in sixth inning

BOSTON --- When trying to score in the sixth inning of Wednesday night's 6-1 Toronto win, Melky Cabrera avoided Red Sox catcher Christian Vazquez by tip-toeing around him, instead of sliding.

Vazquez fielded a throw from right field and, while slightly in the base line, swiped at Cabrera's legs to tag him out.

Because the catcher was close to stopping Cabrera's progress toward home, umpires reviewed the play but eventually confirmed the call on the field, so Cabrera was out after a 2-minute, 34-second review.

Cabrera's out at the plate ended the inning, although Dioner Navarro's single to right on that play scored Anthony Gose to give Toronto a 6-1 lead.
