Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino is expected to be ready for Spring Training after undergoing successful surgery on his right thumb on Monday.
Dr. Thomas Graham performed the nerve release procedure on Victorino in Cleveland. Victorino dealt with some thumb issues during the season, jamming it against the Orioles on Sept. 18 and missing the next two games.
Victorino helped the Red Sox to the World Series title this past season, hitting .294 with an .801 OPS, 15 home runs, 61 RBIs and 21 stolen bases. The 33-year-old, who also won a Gold Glove Award for his efforts in right field, is due to make $26 million over the final two seasons of his three-year contract with Boston.
