The rivalry showdown is scheduled to begin on April 1, then conclude on April 3-4 after a day off. This will be the first time the Red Sox have opened their season at Yankee Stadium since 2005. The Yankees opened the '10 season at Fenway Park.
That initial road trip for the 2013 Sox will continue with a three-game weekend series in Toronto.
The annual spectacle that is Opening Day at Fenway Park will take place on Monday, April 8, against the Orioles, who have been one of baseball's biggest surprises this season.
The first homestand will also include a four-game set against the Rays that will wrap up on Patriots' Day, which is also Marathon Monday.
One road trip that is bound to entice traveling Red Sox fans will take place from Aug. 19-25. The team plays a three-game series in San Francisco against the Giants and, following an off-day, three more at Dodger Stadium.
This will mark the first time the Red Sox have played regular-season games at Dodger Stadium since 2002. The series figures to have plenty of intrigue, given the recent blockbuster trade in which Boston sent Adrian Gonzalez, Carl Crawford, Josh Beckett and Nick Punto to Los Angeles. All four of those players are still under contract with the Dodgers for next season.
The Interleague schedule takes on a far different look in 2013. In past years, nearly all Interleague games took place in June.
This year, it is spread out throughout the season. Boston will open Interleague Play with a home-and-home set against the Phillies, starting with two games at Fenway on May 27-28 and continuing with two in Philadelphia the next two days.
The Rockies visit Fenway for two games (July 25-26), and the Red Sox play in Denver in a late-season two-game set (Sept. 24-25).
The Padres and D-backs also play games at Fenway next season. San Diego will be in town from July 2-4, and Arizona pays its visit from Aug. 2-4.
Meanwhile, the Astros will make their entrance to the American League next season and come to Fenway from April 25-28. The Red Sox will be in Houston from Aug. 5-7.
One of the more interesting schedule twists is that the Yankees don't play at Fenway until the first series after the All-Star break, which is July 19-21. The Bronx Bombers also play in Boston on Aug. 16-18 and Sept. 13-15.
The Red Sox will make their second trip to Yankee Stadium from May 31-June 2, and play a four-game series in the Bronx from Sept. 5-8.
Just prior to the All-Star break, the Red Sox will make a three-city journey out west, going from Anaheim to Seattle to Oakland.
The last three regular-season games in 2013 for Boston will be played at Camden Yards in Baltimore, from Sept. 27-29.
