What will Schilling do for an encore?
Colorado (31-33) at Boston (41-22), 7:05 p.m. ET
By Alex McPhillips / MLB.com
BOS: RHP Curt Schilling (6-2, 3.49 ERA)
Schilling has a 4.31 career ERA against the Rockies in 169 1/3 innings, but he sustained most of that damage as a National Leaguer at Coors Field in Denver, where he had a 5.51 ERA in 85 innings. Only reserve catcher Yorvit Torrealba among Rockies hitters has faced Schilling as many as 10 times (five hits in 10 at-bats). COL: RHP Josh Fogg (1-5, 5.06 ERA)
Fogg came off a stint on the disabled list with a groin strain by allowing 11 hits in five innings against the Astros. The former Pirate has faced the Red Sox just once in 2005, and he gave up five earned runs in seven innings.
Player to watch
Red Sox right fielder J.D. Drew hammered Fogg while he was in the National League. Drew had just four hits in 18 at-bats, but those included a double and two homers.
