The game will be rescheduled later this season, according to Red Sox officials. Tickets for Sunday's game may be used on the makeup date. The club said it would make an announcement as to when the game will be played as soon as possible.
The Red Sox and Angels are scheduled to conclude their four-game series on Monday. The annual Patriots Day game is scheduled for a 10:05 a.m. start, but with rain in the forecast, the possibility of delays does exist.
The current forecast for Monday in the Fenway area calls for rain to decrease in intensity by about 8 a.m. ET and for periods without rain during the day. The Red Sox plan to open the gates at Fenway Park at 8:05 a.m.
Team officials are also consulting with Major League Baseball on what type of arrangements to make, if any, regarding Sunday's planned events to honor Jackie Robinson, including the wearing of No. 42 by several players on both teams.
Josh Beckett (2-0) will start for the Red Sox against Angels right-hander Ervin Santana (1-1) in Monday's contest. Julian Tavarez, who was slated to start Sunday, was bumped back in the rotation again and will now start Thursday's series finale against the Blue Jays. Daisuke Matsuzaka will start Tuesday's game in Toronto, while Tim Wakefield is still slated to pitch Wednesday.
Ace Curt Schilling will start Friday's series opener against the Yankees at Fenway Park.
