FT. MYERS, Fla. -- Today's St. Patrick's Day game won't be the only time that the Red Sox "wear the green" in 2007.

The club today announced that it will honor the late Red Auerbach and the Boston Celtics organization when the Red Sox host the Seattle Mariners on Thursday, April 12 at Fenway Park in a 4:05 p.m. game.

As part of that tribute, the Sox will wear the same green caps and jerseys that the club is featuring this afternoon.

Auerbach, who passed away on October 28, 2006 at age 89, had a hand in all 16 of the Celtics World Championships in his roles as Head Coach, General Manager, Vice Chairman, and President. That included nine NBA crowns in his coaching tenure, including a record eight in a row from 1959-66.

Other special activities are being planned for that game, and those will be announced in future days.
