Baltimore Orioles shortstop Miguel Tejada, who batted .483 with three home runs and a League-best 11 RBI, has been named Bank of America Presents the American League Player of the Week for the week of September 20-26. Bank of America, the official bank of Major League Baseball, is the presenting sponsor of the American League and National League Player of the Week Awards, which reflect the bank's long-standing tradition of promoting and recognizing higher standards of accomplishment.

Tejada tied for the AL lead in homers and paced the AL in RBI, slugging (.862) and total bases (25). On Sunday, he tied Rafael Palmeiro's club single-season record with his Major League-leading 142nd RBI of the season. In leading the O's to a 5-2 week, Tejada went 14-for-29 with a .545 on-base percentage, eight runs and two doubles. Tejada, who is batting .314 with 32 home runs, is the third player to win the AL weekly honors twice this season, joining Cleveland's Victor Martinez and Minnesota's Johan Santana.

Other candidates for this week's award were Cleveland's Coco Crisp (.538, 1 HR, 9 RBI); Seattle's Raul Ibañez (AL-best .556, 7 RBI) and Ichiro Suzuki (.536); and Tampa Bay's Aubrey Huff (.480, 2 HR, 6 RBI).

Pitchers on this week's ballot were Orioles right-hander Rodrigo Lopez (1-0, 0.56 ERA); Anaheim's John Lackey (2-0, 2.77 ERA); Minnesota's Carlos Silva (2-0, 1.93 ERA); and Mark Hendrickson (2-0, 1.00 ERA) of the Devil Rays.

Tourneau, the world's largest watch store, is proud to award the Bank of America Presents the American League Player of the Week Miguel Tejada with a Tourneau luxury Swiss timepiece from its Safari collection.
