Milwaukee's Lyle Overbay named National League Player of the Week
tickets for any Major League Baseball game
Lyle Overbay of the Milwaukee Brewers batted .520 with three home runs and 11 RBI and was named National League Player of the Week for the period of May 3-9.

Overbay was 13-for-25 with four runs scored. He led the league in batting average, RBI, slugging percentage (1.080), doubles (5), and total bases (27), and his three home runs tied for first. On May 8, in the Brewers' 6-4 win over the Mets, Overbay went 3-for-4 for the second consecutive game and tied a career-high with four RBI, accomplished for the third time this year. Currently working on an 11-game hitting streak, Overbay leads the Majors with 16 doubles and is sixth in the NL with a .356 average. This was the 27-year-old first baseman's first Player of the Week Award.

Other players nominated include: Sammy Sosa (.385, 3 HR, 10 RBI) and Carlos Zambrano (1-0, 2-hit shutout) of the Cubs; Montreal's Terrmel Sledge (.500, 2 HR, 5 RBI) and Livan Hernandez (1-0, 1.00 ERA); Houston's Jeff Kent (.323, 3 HR, 7 RBI) and Andy Pettitte (2-0, 1.64 ERA); Florida's Juan Pierre (.423, 3 SB); and Adrian Beltre (.444 average) and Wilson Alvarez (1-0, 0.00 ERA) of the Dodgers.
