    Seattle Mariners Executive Vice President & General Manager of Baseball Operations Jerry Dipoto announced today that the club has claimed catcher Tuffy Gosewisch (pronounced "GOHS-uh-wish") off waivers from Atlanta. To make room on the 40-man roster, right-handed pitcher Jonathan Aro has been designated for assignment. The Mariners now have 7 days to trade, release or outright the contract of Aro to the minors.

  • Mariners' Spring Training home gets new video board, sound system

    The Seattle Mariners Spring Training ballpark, the Peoria Sports Complex, is getting a new HD video scoreboard, an upgraded audio system and a kid's play area. All are expected to be ready for the start of the Mariners Cactus League action on February 25 vs. the San Diego Padres (12:10 p.m. PST).

    ROOT SPORTS and 710 ESPN Seattle will provide complete coverage of the Seattle Mariners 2017 Spring Training camp in Peoria, Arizona, including Cactus League games as well as other special programming. ROOT SPORTS will carry 16 Cactus League games, while radio partner 710 ESPN will air 33 of the team's spring games. The first televised game will be Sunday, March 5, when the Mariners meet the Oakland Athletics at the Peoria Sports Complex at 12:10pm PST.

    Seattle Mariners President & Chief Operating Officer Kevin Mather, on behalf of the Mariners organization and ownership group, today announced that the Mariners will officially retire Edgar Martinez's number 11 in a pregame ceremony on Saturday, August 12. Martinez joins Ken Griffey Jr. as the only players in franchise history to have their number retired. In addition, Jackie Robinson's no. 42 has been retired by Seattle and all Major League teams.
