BOSTON, MA – The Boston Red Sox will commemorate some of Fenway Park’s memorable moments and salute some of the players that made them happen as part of Memorable Moments Month presented by Gulf Oil during the club’s 18 home games in May.  The tributes continue the celebration of the 100th Anniversary of Fenway Park.

Tom Brunansky and Trot Nixon are among the alumni with memorable moments whom the club and their fans will honor in pre-game ceremonies on May 10 and May 28, respectively.

On dates that a player returns, the Red Sox will select 10 lucky fans to create a Memorable Moment of their own as they meet the player to be honored.  Gulf Oil will also donate 100 Red Sox tickets for cancer patients to attend the Memorable Moments games. Starting tomorrow, Gulf Oil will also mark the month with a pink ribbon painted on their Gulf Oil logo located in left field at Fenway Park.

In addition to celebrating Tim Wakefield’s lifetime of moments on “Thanks, Wake Day” May 15th, the Red Sox will honor Tom Bruanansky on May 10 for his division-title-clinching catch in 1990 and Trot Nixon on May 28 for his walk-off home run against Oakland in the 2003 American League Division Series.

Players such as Fred Lynn, Jim Rice, Dennis Eckersley, Carlton Fisk, Dwight Evans, and Luis Tiant will be saluted on dates to be announced.

Also in May, the club will host a Throwback Day this Wednesday, May 2, featuring the Red Sox and Oakland Athletics in their uniforms of 1936.  That was the year that the A’s, then in Philadelphia, sold Jimmie Foxx to the Sox. Foxx won the Most Valuable Player award in 1938 and established the club’s single-season home runs record that stood until David Ortiz eclipsed it in 2006.  Foxx’ daughter, Nanci Foxx Canaday, will be attending the game.

Tickets to games in May are still available via redsox.com, or (877) REDSOX-9.  Fans with disabilities may call (877) REDSOX-9 to purchase accessible seating. The Red Sox' TTY number for hearing-impaired fans is (617) 226-6644.
