Wells returns to Reds with Minors deal
Right-hander was 2-2 in seven starts for Cincy in '09
CINCINNATI -- The Reds have brought back right-handed pitcher Kip Wells, who agreed to terms on a Minor League contract on Thursday with an invite to Spring Training.
In 26 games with the Nationals and Reds last season, Wells was 2-5 with a 5.33 ERA. In his seven starts -- all with Cincinnati -- he was 2-2 with a 4.78 ERA. Cincinnati picked up the 32-year-old Wells on July 7 after his release from Washington. He was promoted from Triple-A Louisville on July 31. Wells became a fill-in starter late in the season and was 2-1 with a 3.65 ERA in four September starts. In his career with the White Sox, Pirates, Rangers, Cardinals, Rockies, Royals, Nationals and Reds, Wells is 67-99 with a 4.71 ERA.Mark Sheldon is a reporter for MLB.com.
