Giants no-hitter drought ends
Indians now own longest no-hitter drought in Majors
Jonathan Sanchez ended the Giants' no-hitter drought with his gem against the Padres on Friday night. Ironically the Padres are one of four franchises -- along with the Rays, Mets and Rockies -- who have never thrown a no-hitter.
Sanchez is the first Giant since John "The Count" Montefusco on Sept. 29, 1976, to throw a no-hitter. Of the 26 franchises that had tossed a no-hitter, the Giants had gone the longest without pulling off the feat. That distinction now belongs to the Indians, who last experienced the euphoria with Len Barker's perfect game on May 15, 1981.
