Sox activate Lugo from disabled list
Shortstop underwent arthroscopic knee surgery in spring
Julio Lugo is back.
The Red Sox activated the shortstop from the disabled list, the club announced Monday afternoon. Lugo has been sidelined since suffering a knee injury during Spring Training.
Lugo was activated after a four-game rehab stint with Pawtucket and will be available for Monday's game at Cleveland. To make room for Lugo, the Red Sox sent right-hander Michael Bowden to Triple-A Pawtucket.
Lugo was injured in a March 13 exhibition game against the New York Yankees and underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee. He was placed on the 15-day disabled list prior to the regular season.
Bowden was called up before Sunday's game against the Yankees and pitched two perfect innings in Boston's 4-1 victory.
