Red Sox at the plate: David Ortiz broke up a scoreless tie in the sixth inning, dropping an RBI single into right-center field and scoring Angel Chavez.

Yankees at the plate: Brett Gardner legged out a sixth-inning triple past a diving Jacoby Ellsbury in center field, then scored on Johnny Damon's infield single. Derek Jeter singled and walked in his first game action for the Yankees since returning from the World Baseball Classic. Angel Berroa delivered the go-ahead run with an RBI double in the eighth, and Austin Jackson hit a grand slam to pad the Yanks' lead.

Red Sox on the mound: In his fifth outing this spring, Tim Wakefield kept the Yankees off balance with 5 2/3 innings of one-run, four-hit ball. Wakefield walked one and struck out five.

Yankees on the mound: Making his fourth start of the spring -- and his first against Boston in a Yankees uniform -- A.J. Burnett worked 5 2/3 innings, scattering three hits and one run. Burnett walked two and struck out four, with his spring ERA rising to 1.20. Mariano Rivera worked a perfect seventh inning, striking out two.

Grapefruit League records: Red Sox 13-11; Yankees 15-10-1.

Up next: The Red Sox will have J.D. Drew back in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Sarasota, Fla., against the Reds at 1:05 p.m. ET. The right fielder suffered a contusion on his right hand after being hit by a pitch against the Pirates on Friday. Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, Mike Lowell and Jason Varitek will also make the trip. Clay Buchholz makes the start.

The Yankees will enjoy their second off-day of the spring on Wednesday before returning to action on Thursday, meeting the Phillies in Clearwater, Fla., for a 1:05 p.m. ET start. Right-hander Joba Chamberlain will be on the mound for New York, and he'll be opposed by right-hander Carlos Carrasco. The game will be on MLB.TV.
