Rockies at the plate: Catcher Yorvit Torrealba extended his hitting streak to five games when he led off the third inning with a triple. In the sixth, Sean Barker recorded Colorado's second hit -- a one-out single to left field. In the ninth, Cory Sullivan led off with a double, just the fourth hit for the Rockies. He moved to third on a wild pitch and scored on Jonathan Herrera's infield single.

White Sox at the plate: Orlando Cabrera's sun-aided double in the first set the table for Nick Swisher's RBI single, which gave the Sox a 1-0 lead. Brian Anderson continued his hot hitting with a solo homer and a single.

Rockies on the mound: Right-hander Kip Wells had an up-and-down outing. Making his fourth Cactus League appearance, Wells allowed runs in the first, third and fourth. In five innings of work, he gave up four runs on eight hits. Right-handers Ryan Speier and Taylor Buchholz followed Wells with each pitching a scoreless inning.

White Sox on the mound: Right-hander Javier Vazquez dazzled from the start. He struck out the side in the first and didn't waver at any point along the way. In five innings, Vazquez allowed one hit and no runs. He struck out seven as he looked in Opening Day form. Scott Linebrink pitched a scoreless inning, though he gave up a hit and hit a batter. Reliever Octavio Dotel and closer Bobby Jenks continued the shutout with scoreless innings. In the ninth, right-hander Jack Egbert gave up a run.

Cactus League records: Rockies 7-7; White Sox 8-9

Up next: The White Sox have a day off Thursday. On Friday, they return to Cactus League action against the Athletics. Right-hander Jose Contreras will start. Contreras, who will be appearing in his fourth game of the exhibition season, will face A's right-hander Rich Harden in a 3:05 p.m. CT game at Tucson Electric Park.

The Rockies will host the Rangers at Hi Corbett Field on Thursday at 2:05 p.m. MT. Right-hander Ubaldo Jimenez, the No. 3 starter, will start, while closer Manny Corpas and left-handed setup man Brian Fuentes also will pitch.
