Marlins at the plate: Shortstop Robert Andino hit the second pitch of the game for a double, and he came around to score on a two-out double by left fielder Brett Carroll. Designated hitter Luis Gonzalez had a pair of two-out hits, including a run-scoring single in the first inning. Second baseman Dan Uggla walked once and got one hit.

Orioles at the plate: Center fielder Tike Redman hit leadoff for the Orioles and broke up Florida's shutout bid with a solo home run to right field in the sixth inning. Veterans Kevin Millar and Jay Gibbons both came through with one hit, as did right fielder Nick Markakis. Designated hitter Aubrey Huff made his first start of the spring and went 0-for-2.

Marlins on the mound: Rick VandenHurk pitched three strong innings and allowed just two baserunners -- one on a walk and one on a base hit. VandenHurk and catcher Mike Rabelo caught two runners stealing, and the tall righty faced the minimum amount of batters. He was followed by former first-round Draft picks Ryan Tucker and Brett Sinkbeil, each of whom threw a scoreless inning.

Orioles on the mound: Steve Trachsel made his second spring start, giving up five hits and two earned runs in three innings. Trachsel gave up two doubles in the first inning and settled down later in his stint. Closer George Sherrill, situational reliever Chad Bradford and long-relief candidate Lance Cormier all threw scoreless innings.

Grapefruit League records: Marlins 6-2-1; Orioles 4-2-1.
