Phillies on the mound: Joe Savery, the Phillies' first-round Draft pick in 2007, rebounded from a rough Grapefruit League debut to post two hitless innings. He walked two and struck out one, breaking two bats. Josh Outman also shook off a difficult debut to work three scoreless innings.
Pirates on the mound: Matt Morris, the team's likely No. 4 starter, worked two scoreless innings, surrendering three hits. He walked none and struck out one.
