Red Sox at the plate: With a lineup that will resemble the one the Red Sox put out there on Opening Day, it was a big day for the bats. Mark Loretta went 3-for-4 with three runs and an RBI. Manny Ramirez produced two hits and had two RBIs. As usual, Coco Crisp was in the middle of everything, going 1-for-2 with a walk, two runs and a stolen base.

Devil Rays at the plate: Jonny Gomes went 3-for-5 with a homer and five RBIs. Julio Lugo also added two hits. The Rays scored four runs in the eighth inning to take the lead, but the Red Sox rallied for two in bottom of ninth to win.

Red Sox on the mound: Left-hander David Wells gave up seven runs on six hits over four innings, walking one and striking out three. Things went far better for closer Keith Foulke, who produced a 1-2-3 inning.

Devil Rays on the mound: Ruddy Lugo pitched 1 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.

Grapefruit League records: Red Sox 8-16-1; Devil Rays 11-13.

Up next: The Red Sox travel to Sarasota to face the Reds on Tuesday at 6:05 p.m. ET, with Matt Clement pitching.

The Devil Rays go to Bradenton to face the Pirates at 1:05 p.m. Scott Kazmir draws the start in that one.
