BOSTON -- True to their word, Red Sox principal owner John Henry and chief executive Larry Lucchino met with Pedro Martinez on Wednesday in the Dominican Republic.

The Associated Press reported that the three men spoke for about 45 minutes at the airport in Santo Domingo before Martinez headed out to a sister's wedding in Miami.

Henry and Lucchino made the trip to the Caribbean country to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the Red Sox-sponsored Dominican Baseball Academy. Both Martinez and the Red Sox had said they wanted the chance to speak with the free agent ace on a social level.
