Location, location, location. The Boston Red Sox are offering fans the chance to enjoy the view of a lifetime -- atop the storied Green Monster -- this October during next weekend's Division Series. A total of 150 tickets will be sold to lucky fans who emerge from the "Monster Tickets!" drawing, under way from now until noon ET Wednesday, right here on Redsox.com.
The Green Monster. Those words alone can bring goose bumps to any Red Sox fan. It reminds you of Carlton Fisk's 12th-inning homer that won Game 6 of the 1975 World Series. You think of the way Carl Yastrzemski used to play the caroms perfectly, and of the way David Ortiz just cleared it on a dramatic night last week at Fenway Park.
Now the Green Monster is all decked out to preside over another October, and -- who knows? -- maybe even its first World Series championship. The Red Sox return there to play Oakland in Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Oct. 4, and the Red Sox -- with support from PC Connection -- are giving you a chance to get right on top of it for the action in this first historic season of seats and standing-room-only space atop the Monster.
In the "Monster Tickets!" drawing, those chosen will have the opportunity to purchase two of the 150 Green Monster tickets (60 seats, 90 standing room) set aside by the ballclub for each Division Series game at Fenway for the game scheduled for Oct. 4 and, if necessary, Oct. 5 in the best-of-five series against Oakland.
A random drawing will be held shortly after registration closes; each applicant selected in the drawing will be notified by e-mail and will have until 3 p.m. ET on Thursday to accept. Game 3 is at Fenway Saturday with the possible Game 4 on Sunday.
Monster seats are $50 apiece, plus a $6 convenience fee per ticket; Standing room tickets are $20 apiece plus the $6 fee per ticket. The purchase of two tickets per accepting applicant are required, and all sales are final. Applications and tickets are non-transferable and non-assignable, with no cash redemptions or substitutions.
The last time Fenway fans saw their Red Sox, they were being hosed down with champagne and catching souvenir hats from their beloved "Dirt Dogs" after clinching the AL Wild Card. Who knows what will be in store the next time Boston takes the field?
Will you be there? Is this Boston's year? Will Trot Nixon wear a clean hat? Will Pedro keep dominating on the hill? What will Todd Walker and David Ortiz do for an October encore? Will a Game 4 be needed at Fenway, and would that be good or bad? Well, we can at least help answer one of those questions.
One entry per e-mail address is allowed. Certain geographic restrictions apply, so please check the rules for details. This is your Monster opportunity if you are a ticketless resident of Red Sox Nation. Don't miss it.
