DeRosa doubles Braves' fun
Cubs starter Carlos Zambrano had a tough time keeping Atlanta in check on Wednesday. In his first postseason start, he was charged with three runs on 11 hits -- all singles -- over 5 2/3 innings. But it was Dave Veres, trying to protect a 3-3 tie, who allowed the Braves' first extra-base hit, a key eighth-inning double that drove in two runs and put the game solidly in the Braves' hands.  Full story >

In a must-win Game 2, the Braves survived a potentially destructive first inning and a John Smoltz blown save to claim victory over the Cubs and tie the series at one game apiece. Mark DeRosa's two-run double in the eighth inning put the game away for the Braves, and Mike Hampton's six consecutive strikeouts in the first and second frames put him in the postseason record books.  Full story >
