September 17, 1984 > Reggie Jackson of the California Angels clubs the 500th home run of his career. The future Hall of Famer, who connects against Kansas City Royals southpaw Bud Black, becomes the 13th player to reach the milestone and the first since Willie McCovey of the San Francisco Giants in 1978.
