Red Sox announce 2009 Minor League field staffs

BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox today announced the 2009 field staffs for each of their six Minor League teams.

The announcement of managers, coaches, and trainers was made by Director of Player Development Mike Hazen.

The Red Sox have hired two new individuals for assignments in the 2009 field staff alignment: Dick Such (pitching coach at Single-A Salem) and Kevin Walker (pitching coach at Single-A Lowell).

Pawtucket (Triple-A, International League)
Manager: Ron Johnson
Pitching Coach: Rich Sauveur
Hitting Coach: Russ Morman
Trainer: Greg Barajas

Portland (Double-A, Eastern League)
Manager: Arnie Beyeler
Pitching Coach: Mike Cather
Hitting Coach: Dave Joppie
Trainer: Jon Jochim

Salem (Single-A, Carolina League)
Manager: Chad Epperson
Pitching Coach: Dick Such -- Joins the Red Sox organization after serving as a pitching coach in the independent Atlantic League for the last three seasons, most recently with the Camden Riversharks from 2007-08. He worked in the same capacity for the Minnesota Twins from 1985-2001, helping the club to two World Series championships in 1987 and 1991, and for the Texas Rangers from 1983-85. As a righthanded pitcher, Such made 21 appearances for manager Ted Williams and the Washington Senators in 1970, his only experience at the Major League level.

Pitching Coach: Kevin Walker -- Will make his professional coaching debut. He was a lefthanded pitcher in the Major Leagues from 2000-05, compiling a 7-3 record and 4.76 ERA in 122 games for the San Diego Padres (2000-03), San Francisco Giants (2004) and Chicago White Sox (2005).

Gulf Coast (Rookie, Gulf Coast League)
