BOSTON -- The Boston Red Sox will for the fifth straight year host "Christmas at Fenway" Presented by Stop & Shop, Saturday, Dec. 8, offering fans the opportunity to purchase 2008 Sox Pax as well as single-game tickets to 18 selected April and May games.

As in the past several years, due to construction of the Year VII Improvements to Fenway Park, the Red Sox are unable to accommodate a large number of fans at Fenway Park. Single-game ticket sales will primarily be handled online at www.redsox.com or by calling 24-hour touch-tone ticketing at (617) 482-4SOX beginning at 10 a.m. on Dec. 8. Fans purchasing Sox Pax may do so online at www.redsox.com. Fans with disabilities may call (877) RED-SOX9 and hearing impaired fans may call our TTY line at (617) 226-6644 to purchase accessible seating (while supplies last) beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 8.

Additionally, the club will host an event at Fenway Park on Dec. 8. Attendees will be selected from a pool of fans who register at www.redsox.com between noon on Wednesday, Nov. 28, and noon on Monday, Dec. 3. Fans selected to attend the Fenway event will be notified via e-mail. All of those who attend will be able to purchase tickets.

Some spots at the Fenway event will also be reserved for citizens of Red Sox Nation, who may register for their own random drawing via the club's official Web site between noon on Wednesday, Nov. 28 and noon on Monday, Dec. 3. There will also be special opportunities for members of Red Sox Kid Nation presented by Hood. Members will be notified directly with an invitation to attend the event.

The Fenway event will include Red Sox players and alumni as well as round-table discussions with club officials.

Nine different Sox Pax will be available (see attachment). Each Sox Pax includes a ticket to four pre-selected games. Among those games available in Sox Pax are Opening Day (April 8 vs. the Tigers), selected Yankees games, some interleague games against the Cardinals, Diamondbacks and Brewers, as well as assorted weekend contests throughout the season.

For the fifth straight year, fans will have the opportunity to purchase tickets to selected April and May games before the holidays. Tickets will be available for April 9-10 vs. Detroit Tigers; April 18-20 vs. Texas Rangers; April 22-24 vs. Los Angeles Angels; April 29-30 and May 1 vs. Toronto Blue Jays; May 2-4 vs. Tampa Bay Rays; and May 19-22 vs. Kansas City Royals. Tickets for these games may be purchased in person at the park during Christmas at Fenway (if the fan is selected), by calling (617) 482-4SOX or online at www.redsox.com.

As part of the club's continuing effort to make as many tickets available to as many different fans as possible, fans may purchase up to eight single-game tickets. Fans may purchase up to two Sox Pax at a maximum of four tickets per package during the "Christmas at Fenway" event. All fans selected for the opportunity to attend the Fenway event are guaranteed the chance to purchase two Sox Pax.

Most single-game tickets--including all Green Monster Seats and Right Field Roof tickets--will go on sale in late January and February, making four-game Sox Pax the first opportunity for fans to buy tickets to many individual games--including Opening Day and some Yankees games--in time for Christmas.

Season tickets remain capped at about 21,500 full-season equivalents, and the waiting list is nearly 7,500. Fans may call (877) RED-SOX9 to join the list.
