The Cincinnati Reds partner with Major League Baseball on the Commissioner's Community Initiative which distributes tickets to community and civic groups that may not otherwise have the opportunity to attend a game. Hosted by the Major League Baseball Players Association, Players Give Back is an opportunity to give back to community partners in the non-profit field. This program recognizes the contributions these local organizations give to the community. Bruce's Buddies is a monthly ticket program hosted by former Reds player, Jay Bruce, that allows children with special needs to enjoy a Reds game at Great American Ball Park. Each group receives a scoreboard welcome along with concession gift cards and custom-made Reds caps. With nearly 200 participants in 2015, groups included The Point/Arc of Northern Kentucky, SAFE (Showing Acceptance for Everyone), and Scioto County Board of Developmental Disabilities.
Bruce's Battalion provides tickets for local military families to enjoy Sunday home games from the Sun/Moon Deck. Guests also receive a scoreboard welcome along with concession gift cards and custom-made military style Reds caps, featuring Jay's signature. In 2015, Bruce welcomed more than 300 fans, including groups from American Legion Post 64 and Operation Ward 57.
