Countdown to Redlegs Run!

Close to 3,300 runners and walkers participated on Saturday, May 14, 2016 in the 15th annual race raising over $150,000 for the Reds Community Fund.

RACE INFO
– 8:00 a.m. - All 10K participants and first 1,500 registered 5K participants*
– 8:10 a.m. - Remaining 5K participants**
– 9:30 a.m. - One Mile Family Run
– 10:15 a.m. - Gapper's Kids Fun Run (children 10 years and younger)

*Official 5K start time will be printed on your race bib. To help with traffic flow, we ask participants to start in their assigned group.
** Elite 5K runners must be in the 8:00 a.m. group that is gun timed to be eligible for the top three 5K male and female awards. All other awards will be based on chip time. Qualifying times for elite classification are sub 18:00 for men and sub 22:00 for women.

COURSE INFO
– 10K - The 6.2 mile course starts at Great American Ball Park, winds through downtown Cincinnati, goes into northern Kentucky and finishes inside the ballpark near home plate.
– 5K - presented by Beacon Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine - The 3.1 mile course starts at Great American Ball Park, winds through downtown Cincinnati and finishes inside the ballpark near home plate.
– One Mile Family Run - presented by Chick-Fil-A - The 1 mile course starts at Great American Ball Park, turns around by Paul Brown Stadium and finishes inside the ballpark near home plate.
– Gapper's Kids Fun Run (children 10 years and younger)- This short course is along the warning track inside Great American Ball Park
RACE PRICING
– 10K - $42 (before May 8 at midnight); $50 (packet pick-up and race day registration)
– 5K - $32 (before May 8 at midnight); $40 (packet pick-up and race day registration)
– One Mile Family Run - $21 (before May 8 at midnight); $26 (packet pick-up and race day registration)
– Gapper's Kids Fun Run - $16
– Virtual Race -$27 (available until May 8 at midnight)

All participants receive a race t-shirt (technical for 10K participants), unique race bib, entry to the post-race party in the Kroger Fan Zone, custom race medal, and one (1) View Level ticket to the May 21 Reds game.

NEW IN 2017- VIRTUAL REDLEGS RUN!

Can't make it to Cincinnati this year? Register for our virtual race! Now Reds fans all over the U.S. can earn their own Redlegs Run medal. It's simple- register for the virtual 5K on reds.com/run, run/walk 3.1 miles anytime, anywhere between May 1-13, share results & photos on Facebook or Twitter using the #RedlegsRun and you will receive a race medal and T-shirt right to your door. Registration for the virtual race is available online for $25. Virtual racers do not qualify for awards.

PACKET PICK-UP

As of midnight on May 8, new registration will be available at all packet pick-ups and on race morning only. Prices will increase by $8.

All participants will receive an e-mail once registration has closed confirming dates and times for packet pick-up. Please check this website for the most up-to-date information.

  • Thursday, May 11: 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Great American Ball Park - Outside the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum
  • Friday, May 12: 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Great American Ball Park - Outside the Reds Hall of Fame & Museum
  • Saturday, May 13 (race morning): 6 a.m. Great American Ball Park - Dock 3, off Pete Rose Way
RACE DAY

All 5K and 10K participants will be electronically timed. The One Mile Family Run and Gapper's Kids Fun Run are not chip-timed. However, there are race clocks at the finish line. Tags will be assigned at packet pick-up and verification will occur for those who pre-register.

  • 10K race starts at 8:00 a.m. on the corner of Joe Nuxhall Way and Mehring Way (across from the Moerlein Lager House).
  • 5K race starts at 8:00 a.m. and 8:10 a.m. on the corner of Joe Nuxhall Way and Mehring Way (across from the Moerlein Lager House). Your start time, either 8:00 a.m. or 8:10 a.m., will be printed on your race bib. You must start with your assigned group. The 8:00 a.m. group will be eligible for the top 3 overall male and female awards.
  • One Mile Family Run starts at 9:30 a.m. on the corner of Joe Nuxhall Way and Mehring Way (across from the Moerlein Lager House).
  • Gapper's Kids Fun Run starts at 10:15 a.m. inside Great American Ball Park on the warning track. Please enter through Dock 2 off Mehring Way after 10 a.m. or via the Kroger Fan Zone.
TIMING & AWARDS

All 5K and 10K participants will be electronically timed. The One Mile Family Run and Gapper's Kids Fun Run are not chip-timed. However, there are race clocks at the finish line. Tags will be assigned at packet pick-up and verification will occur for those who pre-register.

  • The top three 5K males, top three 5K females, top three 10K males and top three 10K females will be honored on the field during a pre-game ceremony at the May 21 Reds game. 5K runners must be in the 8:00 a.m. group to be eligible for the top three 5K male and female awards.
  • The top overall 5K male and female will each toss a simultaneous ceremonial first pitch as the May 21 Reds game.
  • The top overall 10K male and female will each toss a simultaneous ceremonial first pitch as the May 21 Reds game.
  • The top male and female 5K and 10K runners in each of the 14 age groups (under 10, 11-14, 15-18, 19-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, over 70) will be awarded a Reds goody bag. Prizes must be picked up the day of the race.
  • The participant with the most festive Reds attire will win four (4) Field Box tickets for a Reds game on May 21. The "Festive Fan" promotion is open to all Redlegs Run participants over the age of 18. You are automatically considered for this award just by showing up on race day in your Reds regalia.
PARKING

Please give yourself ample time to travel to Great American Ball Park, find parking, and get to the start line. Traffic will be very heavy on race morning. The Reds Community Fund encourages arriving early and carpooling. Arrive early if you plan on parking near the start line. Roads surrounding Great American Ball Park will close at 7:30 a.m. Please be aware of the Course Map when looking for parking. Roads will re-open approximately 30 minutes after the last participant clears each race section. All roads will open no later than 10:30 a.m.

  • Central Riverfront Garage (underneath Great American Ball Park) will be pay-upon-entry from 5 a.m.-10 a.m.- $5.

From the south: I-75N to the 5th Street exit in Cincinnati. Right on Central, Turn left on West Pete Rose Way to access Central Riverfront Garage.

From the north: I-75S to the Freeman Avenue exit in Cincinnati. Continue straight off the exit. Veer left on to West Pete Rose Way. Central Riverfront Garage can be accessed off Pete Rose Way.

Please note that Central Parking System manages the parking and on-site traffic operation for Great American all Park. Parking prices are subject to change without further notice.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteer registration will be available in January 2017

Interested in volunteering for the Redlegs Run?

  • Over 150 volunteers are needed on race day for a variety of tasks
  • Ability to be paired up with friends or family members
  • All volunteers will receive a race t-shirt
  • Breakfast will be provided
  • Each volunteer will receive two (2) View Level tickets to the May 21 Reds game
  • Event information will be e-mailed to volunteers a week prior to the event
