Official Rules
The object of the "LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD: RUN FOR PRESIDENT OF RED SOX NATION" Contest ("The Contest"), is to demonstrate that you deserve to be the "President of Red Sox Nation" by all of the following:
1. Correctly answering Red Sox trivia
2. Answering the following three application questions:
a) As President, what would be your first act?
b) As President, what would your advice be to John Henry, Tom Werner, and Larry Lucchino?
c) As President, what would your advice be to Commissioner Selig?
Written and video submissions are acceptable.
3. Creating a popular Red Sox Nation Presidential blog.
The Boston Red Sox Baseball Club Limited Partnership, ("Red Sox" or "Sponsor") and MLB Advanced Media, L.P. ("MLBAM") staff members will judge all submissions based on criteria set forth in the Judging section below.
Eligibility
The Contest is open to Red Sox Nation Fan Pack, Ultimate Fan Pack, or Monster Member Citizens as defined on redsoxnation.com except where otherwise prohibited by law, rule or regulation. Entrants must be eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry (except in the case of legal residents of certain states or Washington DC where the age of majority is greater than eighteen (18) years of age, such age of majority) (each, an "Eligible Participant"). Void where prohibited by law, rule or regulation.
Limit one (1) entry per person. Employees, officers and directors (including immediate family members and members of the same household) of the Red Sox and the other MLB Entities and each of their respective subsidiaries, advertising and promotion agencies are not eligible to participate. The "MLB Entities" shall mean the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball, its Bureaus, Committees, Subcommittees and Councils, MLBAM, Major League Baseball Enterprises, Inc., Major League Baseball Properties, Inc. (doing business in its own name and as Major League Baseball Productions), Tickets.com, Inc., SportsOnEarth, LLC, the Major League Baseball Clubs, and each of their subsidiaries or affiliated entities, any entity which, now or in the future, controls, is controlled by, or is under common control with the Major League Baseball Clubs or the Office of the Commissioner of Baseball, and the directors, officers and employees of the above entities.
How to Enter
The Contest registration runs from 11:59 a.m. Eastern Time ("ET") on July 19, 2007 and ends at 11:59 a.m. ET on August 17, 2007 (the "Contest Period").
During the Contest Period, go to redsox.com and click on the link to launch the online entry form for the "Be the President of Red Sox Nation" Contest. You will be asked to fill out the following fields on the online entry form: complete name, date of birth, address, city, state, ZIP code, telephone number, mobile phone number (optional), and e-mail address.
Upon registering, the entrant will be asked to answer 20 trivia questions.
Upon the submission of the entry form, Eligible Participants will be given a confirmation number. Eligible Participants must then e-mail their written or video recorded response to the three application questions listed above, along with the confirmation number, to nominations@redsox.com. Fans must submit the video in .wmv format only. Maximum of five (5) minutes allowed. Any videos that do not fall within the five (5) minute time-limit range will be eliminated from consideration. Limit of one entry per person, family or household.
By submitting the entry form and the written or video recorded response to the three application questions, Eligible Participants will be automatically entered in the Contest. Entrants will be given the option to receive commercial e-mails from redsox.com; however, eligibility to participate in the Contest is not dependent upon entrant's consent to receive such e-mails. All information submitted by entrants is subject to Redsox.com's Privacy Policy accessible at: http://mlb.mlb.com/bos/help/bos_help_about_privacy.jsp. Entrants must complete all non-optional data requested on the online entry form. Incomplete entries are void.
Eligible Participants may also send their video entry to "RUN FOR PRESIDENT OF RED SOX NATION" Contest, MLB.com, 75 Ninth Avenue, 5th Floor, New York, NY 10011 in DVD, VHS, CD-ROM or mini-DVD formats only and must include a 3"x5" postcard with your name, address, city, state, zip code, e-mail address (optional), day and evening phone number, and the confirmation number given upon registration on redsox.com. Sponsor will use e-mail address provided via the Mail-in entry method for prize notification only; however, eligibility to participate in the Contest is not dependent upon entrant's provision of this information. Mail-in entries must be postmarked by August 17, 2007 and received by August 20, 2007. Mail-in entries become the property of the Sponsor and/or MLBAM and will not be returned.
Eligible Participant submissions are subject to the following terms:
a) Use of appropriate content is required. Abusive, profane and vulgar language, graphics and images will be grounds for elimination.
b) Personal attacks on or impersonation of players, management, employees of baseball and other users are not permitted. Personal attacks include, but are not limited to, the following: defamatory, sexual, and/or sexually implicit remarks.
Initial Judging
1. On or about August 20, 2007 the Red Sox Fan Services Department will narrow the pool of entrants to 25 candidates, based on the following criteria:
a) Knowledge of the Red Sox, per the trivia asked upon registration (10%)
b) Strength of short answer or video submission content (50%)
c) Personality as conveyed in their short answer or video submission (20%)
d) Creativity and Originality of their short answer video submission (15%)
e) Fan support (5%)
2. From August 20-31, 2007, the 25 candidates will be provided with opportunities to present their campaign platforms to the general public. Online elections will be staged to determine the top 10 candidates.
Final Judging
1. From on or about September 11, 2007 to September 20, 2007, the 10 candidates with the most compelling campaign platforms, as determined by the judges and fan voting, will be provided a blog on www.MLBlog.com for one month and shall be provided such other opportunities as MLBAM and/or the Red Sox may determine to further promote and demonstrate that they deserve to be "President of Red Sox Nation". Candidates must abide by the following terms of use:
a) Use of appropriate content is required. Abusive, profane and vulgar language, graphics and images will be grounds for elimination.
b) Personal attacks on or impersonation of players, management, employees of baseball and other users are not permitted. Personal attacks include, but are not limited to, the following: defamatory, sexual, and/or sexually implicit remarks.
c) Advertising, solicitations and chain letters are prohibited.
d) The cutting and pasting of copyrighted information is prohibited.
e) The posting of e-mail addresses and/or phone numbers of others is prohibited.
f) Posting of URLs and/or inappropriate images is prohibited.
MLBAM and the Red Sox reserve the right to pull from the website any blog that does not comply with the regulations listed above. Violations of these regulations may result in disqualification from The Contest.
2. On or about September 20, 2007 a panel of Red Sox, MLBAM and celebrity judges will narrow the pool of entrants from 10 to three candidates, based on the following criteria:
a) Strength of campaign platform to date
b) Strength of performance during competition amongst candidates. Competition to be broadcast on NESN and redsox.com
3. On or about September 28-30, 2007 the final three candidates will be subject to public online voting to determine the President of Red Sox Nation.
Voting will take place from September 28, 2007 through September 30, 2007. Fans may visit redsox.com to view the three finalists' videos and blogs, and vote for the entry that they feel should be the 2007 President of Red Sox Nation.
Voter e-mail addresses must be valid. Ballots generated by a script, macro or other mechanical or automated means will be disqualified. MLBAM and the Red Sox reserve the right to validate all votes cast, and to invalidate any ballot in its discretion. Use of the voting poll is subject to the MLB.com Terms of Use and Privacy Policy. The Red Sox will have final decision on all voting matters.
In the event of a tie, a panel of Red Sox judges will use the category for "Dedication" to break the tie.
Publication and Assignment of Copyright
By entering the Contest, each entrant agrees that his or her submission is an original work of authorship and he or she owns all right, title and interest in the entry as of the date of submission. By entering the Contest, entrants agree to assign all right, title, and interest, including copyright rights, in the entry to Sponsor and grant permission for Sponsor and MLBAM to publish or publicize all or part of their entry, including but not limited to entrant's name, likeness and video, in whole or in part, for advertising, promotional and trade purposes in conjunction with this and similar promotions in any and all media now known or hereafter developed, in perpetuity, without notice and without further compensation, except where prohibited by law.
Grand Prize
The Eligible Participant that is judged to be "President of Red Sox Nation" for 2007 will be Grand Prize winner and will win:
Perquisites
1. Four tickets to 10 games during the 2008 regular season
2. A Ceremonial First Pitch in 2008 before a game
3. A suite for one regular season game date in 2008
4. A trip to Spring Training with a guest

(Estimated Retail Value of Grand Prize: $10,000)
All prizes listed above will be awarded to The Winner. The Winner is fully responsible for any and all applicable federal, state, international and local taxes. All costs and expenses not specified herein, related to the Prize, including but not limited to lodging, transportation costs, meals, taxes (including income taxes) and gratuities and other expenses incurred by accepting the prize are the sole responsibility of the Winner. Limit one prize per person, family or household. Winner's companions must be 18 years of age or older, unless traveling with a parent or guardian. All MLB game dates and times are determined in the sole discretion of the Office of Commissioner of Baseball and/or Sponsor, as applicable, and may be subject to change. The terms and conditions of the tickets and/or credentials awarded as prizes will govern the use of such tickets and credentials including, without limitation, terms relating to rain-outs and terms relating to assumption of risk. Sponsor and the applicable MLB Entities reserve the right to remove to or to deny entry to winner and/or guest who engages in a non-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person at the game or exhibition. The Red Sox reserve the right to substitute prizes of greater or equal value if prizes outlined above are not available.
Prizes are non-transferable, with no cash redemptions or substitutions except at Sponsor's sole discretion. The MLB Entities will not be responsible for Acts of God, acts of terrorism, civil disturbances, work stoppage or any other natural disaster outside their control that may cause the cancellation of any Major League Baseball game.
Game Administration
Sponsor will be responsible for resolving any disputes and rules violations that arise in connection with the Contest. All decisions by Sponsor regarding the Contest shall be final and binding in all respects.
General Conditions
By participating in the Contest, each Eligible Participant accepts and agrees to be bound by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, the MLB.com Privacy Policy and MLB.com Website Terms of Use.
The prize winner will be notified by e-mail and/or telephone. In the event that the winner does not respond to any such notification within three (3) hours, a disqualification will result and an alternate winner shall be chosen from among all remaining eligible entries. The Winner will receive Sponsor's Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability, which must be completed, notarized and returned within three (3) days of receipt. A disqualification will result and an alternative winner will be selected from among all remaining eligible entries if the Sponsor's Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability are not properly returned within the specified period of time. Refusal or return of Sponsor's Affidavit of Eligibility and Release of Liability as non-deliverable will also result in disqualification and cause an alternative winner to be chosen from among all remaining eligible entries.
All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. This Contest and these Official Rules will be governed by the laws of the State of New York. Any court of competent jurisdiction sitting within the State of New York, New York County will be the exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any dispute arising out of or relating to this Contest or these Official Rules.
The MLB Entities shall not be responsible for lost, late or misdirected online entries or videos, for incorrect, inaccurate or incomplete entry information whether caused by a Eligible Participant, equipment, or technical malfunction or for any human error, technical error or malfunctions. Sponsor reserves the right to halt, modify, or suspend the Contest at any time during the Contest Period due to situations beyond the control of the MLB Entities such as work stoppages, acts of God, acts of terrorism, civil disturbances, etc.
The MLB Entities shall not be responsible for typographical or other human or technical errors in the offer or administration of this Contest, including but not limited to errors in advertising, the Official Rules, the selection and announcement of the Grand Prize winner or the distribution of the prizes. Sponsor reserves the right to modify these Official Rules for clarification purposes without materially affecting the terms and conditions of the Contest.
The MLB Entities, their respective parent companies, trustees, subsidiaries, franchisees, licensees, agents, independent contractors and advertising and promotional agencies make no warranties, express or implied, relative to the use or enjoyment of any prize or portions thereof, including without limitations, its quality, merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. By entering the Contest, Grand Prize winner agrees to hold harmless and fully release Sponsor, the other MLB Entities and each of their respective parent companies, trustees, subsidiaries, franchisees, licensees, employees, agents, independent contractors and advertising and promotional agencies from any and all liability for any injuries, losses, death, or damages of any kind caused by any prize or resulting from the acceptance, possession, quality, use or misuse of any prize, or any portion of any prize or travel related to the receipt or use of any prize.
The Contest is a skill contest designed to increase consumer awareness of and interest in Major League Baseball and MLB.com, the Official Site of Major League Baseball. This Contest may not be used for any form of gambling.
Internet
If for any reason the Contest is not capable of running as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of Sponsor or the MLB Entities which corrupt or affect the administration, security, fairness, integrity, or proper conduct of this Contest, Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion, to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process, and to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest. In such event Sponsor further reserves the right to judge the entries received prior such event and award the Grand Prize as of the termination date.
The MLB Entities assume no responsibility for any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorized access to, or alteration of, entries. The MLB Entities are not responsible for any problems or technical malfunction of any telephone network or lines, computer online systems, servers, or providers, computer equipment, software, failure of any e-mail or entry to be received on account of technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any Web site, or any combination thereof, including any injury or damage to Eligible Participant's or any other person's computer related to or resulting from participation or downloading any materials in this Contest.
CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANT TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEB SITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, SPONSOR, THE OTHER MLB ENTITIES AND THEIR AGENTS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH ELIGIBLE PARTICIPANT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
All entries must include a valid e-mail address for the entrant. In case of multiple entries, only the first entry received will be considered. In the event of a dispute as to the identity or eligibility of a winner based on an e-mail address, entries will be declared made by the "Authorized Account Holder" of the e-mail address submitted at time of entry. The "Authorized Account Holder" is the person to whom the Internet service provider or other organization (such as business or educational institution) has assigned the e-mail addresses for the domain associated with the submitted e-mail address.
Any entry that is incomplete, late or otherwise does not comply with these Official Rules will be disqualified.
In the event that the Contest is challenged by any legal or regulatory authority, Sponsor reserves the right to discontinue or modify the Contest, or to disqualify Eligible Participants residing in the affected geographic areas. In such event, the MLB Entities shall have no liability to any Eligible Participants who are disqualified due to such an action.
Winner's List
For a list of winners or an additional copy of the Official Rules, mail a self-addressed stamped envelope to: RUN FOR PRESIDENT OF RED SOX NATION Contest, Fenway Park, 4 Yawkey Way, Boston, MA 02215. Winner's list requests must be made by November 15, 2007.
